If Microsoft really loved open source, they'd at least open-source their older software once they dropped support for them.
@Jo tbf, i don't think it's that easy. like, lots and lots of their software incorporates tech or code they licensed from someone else.
heck, even the first versions of internet explorer were based on ncsa mosaic.
@devurandom I mean, id Software got around this by rooting out the licensed stuff and replacing it with open-source alternatives, though I suspect a whole OS would need a lot more effort than an old FPS.
