Dear client devs:

Nobody want replies to boosts to automatically include the booster.

Stop it.

@Jo ISTR Toot! implemented that, and quickly thereafter added a toggle to turn it back off. =:)

@Jo @algernon

I want replies to boosts to automatically include the booster.

Here's the thing:

Maybe it doesn't make sense to include the booster when you agree with the post, or when someone is asking a question and you have an answer.

But when you for some reason find the post inappropriate - eg. because it's spreading misinformation, or it lacks a CW, or you just think it's a bad joke - you want to give feedback to the booster even more than to the original poster.

The original poster may be in a totally different community, where such posts are acceptable.
It's the booster who should've known - and in this case, should be reminded - that in your community, the post is inappropriate, and they shouldn't boost such posts into that community.

@Wolf480pl @algernon That isn't a situation that justifies an always-on anti-feature that needlessly drags people into converstations unwittingly.

@Jo maybe, but IMO it's bad either way. And if boosters were mentioned by default, maybe people would boost more responsibly.

@Wolf480pl And... you can't just message the booster yourself without that feature because? :blobglare:

@Wolf480pl @Jo That's where a separate "Reply" and "Reply all" functionality becomes useful. Have both, let the user choose their default (with the option to use the other one too, if need be).

@Jo oh, so that's why i've been randomly added to threads i boosted 🤔
