Incoherent nonce thought it was a good idea to jump into my mentions and white Knight for TERFs, complete with r-slur.

Domain Block

@Jo they're also a nazi fwiw

Domain Block

@bunnegirl Yeah, I noticed the iron cross in their display name. :blobfrowningbig:

Domain Block

@Jo had written down their handle for further investigation on my own instance, just never got around to doing it before shutting down.

Domain Block

@Jo and they came from a whole slew of bad instances and have a gleasonator alt. The perfect storm. Thanks for the heads-up as always!

Domain Block

@Jo what a waste of a good name.

Domain Block

@hache I have my doubts as to whether they've even read Neuromamcer, much less understood it. :blobnervous:

Domain Block

@Jo Sadly the entire genre of cyberpunk has been stripped clean of all but the aesthetic.

@Jo

☑️ Iron Cross in display name
☑️ Pleroma instance
☑️ Alt on Free Speech Extremist

Yeah, there are no critical thinking skills here.

Domain Block

@Jo To be fair, I stopped looking at their list of alt accounts after I saw the first bad choice.

@crash @Jo
Yikes. 😬 A trifecta.

Can someone explain something to me? Why is Pleroma considered problematic? I've talked to a few people who consider a user being from Pleroma to be a warning sign. Is it just a cultural thing ("free speech" just people pick Pleroma) or is there a structural reason, e.g. Pleroma has bad content moderation tools, or what?

Domain Block

@Argus @crash There's a few factors.

Its user base tends to be disproportionately fascists, edgelords and other such types, owing in part to the purported low system requirements. That's not to say everyone who uses it is such, or that they haven't used Mastodon in the past either, but they seem to gravitate to that more than anything.

Plus the developers are alarmingly keen to buddy up with those types and do nothing to denounce them.

Domain Block

@Argus @crash There was also something that cropped up last year or so that Pleroma does naff all to honour user blocks, but I don't know if that's changed recently.

At least one of the few decent admins around here also had zero help whatsoever from the community when his instance fell over too. He went into their IRC for help and was effectively blanked. :blobawkward:

Domain Block

@Jo @Argus @crash Pleroma's stance on blocks hasn't changed. Because the ActivityPub specification doesn't mandate enforcing blocks, Pleroma's lead developers took the decision to specifically add functionality which allows a Pleroma instance admin to ignore blocks set from other instances.

Domain Block

@Jo I believe they were agreeing with you.

Domain Block

@scarier They have accounts on FSE and Gleasonator (a TERF instance), so I highly doubt that. :blobdisapproval:
