@Jo I haven't watched Picard S2 yet but me and a friend used to have this idea for a tiny Borg faction that broke away from the collective while continuing the whole hivemind thing but with a friendlier approach, talking people into joining them instead of forcing them to.
In our version they end up asking Starfleet for help because the Borg Queen is super unhappy with all of this and wants them re-absorbed.
Sounds like Picard might be doing something similar with the 'friendly borg' thing and I'm sorta amused.

I love Unimatrix-01 as a character concept (much as I love Unicron from the Transformers universes.)
The simple, but mind-bending idea that in every universe, given enough time/development, reality will produce Unimatrix-01. It's one of my favorite Trek elements.

@Jo I really wondered about this but it's deliberate apparently. Because in this timeline TNG didn't happen, so that whole time travel thing with them didn't happen either.
I have a lot of gripes with Picard S2 but this point seems fair. 😁

@bipolaron @mike The events of TNG still happened as of S1. In S2, Team Picard (for want of a better name) has been pulled into a new timeline created by Q after an encounter with the Borg in the original timeline led Picard to self-destruct the new Stargazer and take everyone with it.
If anything, I expect a return to that original timeline.
